Marvin Harrison Jr.’s Heisman Odds Appear to Crater After Dynamite Performance Against Michigan State

College football fans have known for the last couple of seasons that Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. ranks as one of the best players in the country.

However, the Buckeyes took a few games to truly involve Harrison Jr. in 2023. Gradually, he and quarterback Kyle McCord developed a rapport, and on Saturday evening the top NFL prospect was finally able to detonate.

Harrison Jr. finished the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan State with seven catches for 149 yards and two receiving touchdowns to go with a 19-yard rushing touchdown on an end-around play.

Bettors seemed to respond to Harrison Jr.'s outburst by driving his odds of winning the Heisman Trophy downward, with Timmy Hall of WBNS-FM in Columbus reporting a decrease from +1300 to +450 at one book in just a quarter.

Only four true wide receivers—Nebraska's Johnny Rodgers in 1971, Notre Dame's Tim Brown in ’87, Michigan's Desmond Howard in ’91, and Alabama's DeVonta Smith in 2020—have ever won college football's highest honor.
