As a friendly reminder, the Big Ten does not do an official preseason Big Ten team like some other conferences. Instead, it highlights preseason honorees: five players from the West Division and five from the East.
One could make an argument there needs to be more from the East and maybe fewer from the West, but I guess good on the conference for the effort for equality.
One of the Big Ten players that received preseason honors this year, to no surprise, is Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison, Jr. He is the only player from the Buckeyes that received the honor. Michigan had two among the East honorees and Minnesota had a couple from the West.

Here’s the list of the 10 players announced as Big Ten preseason honorees:
EAST
Taulia Tagovailoa, QB, Maryland
Blake Corum, RB, Michigan
J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan
Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State
Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OL, Penn State
WEST
Jer’Zhan Newton, DL, Illinois
Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa
Brevyn Spann-Ford, TE, Minnesota
Tyler Nubin, DB, Minnesota
Braelon Allen, RB, Wisconsin
This list obviously doesn’t mean much until the season begins and we see how things shake out, but it is a nod to what these players have done to date in the league. It’ll be fun to see how each plays this fall and who might surprise.
