Marvel Zombies is returning for season 2 and will deliver "on an MCU thing that has never really happened before"

Zombie Wanda in Marvel Zombies.

Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that Marvel Zombies is indeed returning for season 2... but will it clear up that wildly confusing season 1 ending?

"I don't think it's a spoiler, but I saw the first animatic of the first episode of Marvel Zombies season 2 this morning," Winderbaum told The Escape Pod. "It was crazy. I can't say anything about it. But it delivers not just on like zombies, but also on like an MCU thing that has never really happened before that we're very excited to do."

In case you need a refresher, the final episode of Marvel Zombies season 1 see Kamala Khan seemingly join forces with Wanda Maximoff aka The Scarlett Witch in order to save the world. As it turns out, the episode's "happy ending" was just an illusion created by Wanda... and there are still zombies everywhere. The episode ends with a flash of Zombie Wanda before cutting to credits.

Some fans were curious about how the studio would even make a second season, given the fact that all of the Avengers are dead, and it's really just Kamala and Riri who are still alive... but it's Marvel, man. Anything can happen.

Next up for Marvel is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters on July 31. For more, get up to speed on the rest of Marvel Phase 6 with our guide to the other upcoming Marvel movies and shows. For more cinema, check out our list of movie release dates.
