Spy series The Copenhagen Test has been canceled by Peacock after just one season. The TV show, which starred Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu and Scream's Melissa Barrera, was very well received by critics but failed to turn the dial with audience numbers.
According to Variety, figures show that while it reached the top 10 spot in its first week of release on Peacock, viewer numbers quickly dropped off. This is all despite a very respectable 71% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
The eight-part season blended the spy and sci-fi genres as it followed Liu's intelligence agent Alexander Hale. After his brain was hacked, he had to prove his loyalty to his organization and catch those responsible, all while his every action had been tapped into by the nefarious gang. Barrera played fellow agent Michelle Cyr in the show, which was released on Prime Video back in December 2025.
Both actors have reacted to the news of the cancellation by praising their co-stars. Posting on X, Liu shared some images of Barrera, writing: "She makes every set better with her generosity, professionalism and beauty. Mel you deserve the world, may it one day deserve you."
Barrera also posted on social media, taking to her Instagram account to thank those involved in the show. "Grateful to everyone involved, everyone who watched and the absolute best number 1 I've ever had the honor of working with. Love you @simuliu (already thinking of our next one)", she wrote on her Instagram Stories.
Despite the news, Liu is keeping busy with Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon for the Marvel star. The upcoming movie is due to be released at the end of this year and will mark a new era for the MCU.
