Marvel actor Jeremy Renner released from hospital after snowplough accident left him critically injured

Jeremy Renner has been released from hospital after a snowplough accident left him critically injured on New Year’s Day.

The 52-year-old actor, known for playing the bow-and-arrow-wielding Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), revealed in a social media post that he is now home recovering less than three weeks after the incident which resulted in “blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries”.

Responding to a post on Twitter about his Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown, Renner wrote: “Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.”

He also shared an Instagram Story showing a snowy forest outside Reno.

“It’s a rough ride over the pass. Be safe out there,” he wrote over a photo of a snow-covered path. “Reno/ Tahoe.”

The Avengers star has a long road to recovery ahead, with friends of the California-born personality saying it could take up to two years before his health is restored.

Renner was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he was accidentally run over by his own six-tonne ploughing machine while trying to help a family member.

The incident took place around the New Year, near the Mount Rose Highway, which links Lake Tahoe and south Reno as it straddles the Nevada-California border.

Immediately after the incident, Renner posted a picture of himself from his hospital bed, thanking fans for their support, but saying he was “too messed up to type”.

Scores of famous faces, including his Marvel co stars, praised the actor for his bravery and sent well wishes in the aftermath.
