Celtic captain Callum McGregor is battling a stomach bug ahead of the Premiership clash with Falkirk.

The midfielder missed training after suffering vomiting symptoms following the defeat to LASK.

Manager Martin O'Neill is hopeful McGregor will recover in time to play. He said, "He didn’t train today. He’s got a stomach bug. I’m hoping he’s going to be okay. I don’t know whether Trusty passed that on to him in the last couple of days or not.

"And Callum never misses a training session. He had, I think, a bit of vomiting."

Auston Trusty has also been unwell in recent days, while O'Neill admitted there are several other fitness concerns within the squad as they look to respond quickly from their LASK loss.

He added: "We’ve got a couple of boys with a few knocks and things like this here, but it’s as much psychological as physical, I think, for us to get through."

McGregor’s potential absence would be a major blow for Celtic heading into the Falkirk fixture, as the Scottish Premiership continues.
