Martin O'Neill hailed the performance of young Celtic right-back Colby Donovan in the win over LASK.

The Scottish champions will take a three-goal lead over to Austria next week for the second leg after a thumping victory over the Austrians, with three spectacular goals from Camilo Duran (2) and Benjamin Nygren.

Those two stole the headlines, particularly Duran after a sizzling all-round display, but Donovan also put in a big shift a full-back.

With Alistair Johnston injured, the 19-year-old has big shoes to fill but did so with aplomb last night.

O'Neill praised the performance from a player with a "big heart."

"He did great. He really did great. He's got a big, big heart, and that's nice to see. Really nice to see. He's a local lad as well too, and loves it.

"Loves the football club, loves playing. His enthusiasm is boundless. He stuck to his task brilliantly tonight.

"He just goes for it. He's always trying to improve his game, trying to improve his first touch, things like this here.

"But overall, I don't think you can compensate for the heart that he has," he said.
