Martin O’Neill admits Celtic are unlikely to sign a new player before the Champions League deadline.
The club has until 11pm on Tuesday to register two additional players for the £40 million qualifier against LASK.
However, O’Neill revealed they have been unable to complete a deal in time. He said: "I wouldn’t really be sure. A fairly decent chance there will be nothing happening.
"We haven’t been able to get someone in in time to do that."
Celtic were hoping to add a midfielder following Arne Engels’ £22 million move to West Ham.

Despite this, O’Neill insists the squad remains in good condition ahead of the first leg against LASK. He said: "We’re in decent shape.
"I think most of the players that are at the club are available, so that’s good news."
So far this summer, Celtic have signed four players, who all featured in last Saturday's 4-0 defeat of Dundee United in the Premier Sports Cup.
Camilo Duran signed from Azerbaijan's Qarabag, while Kasper Hogh completed a club-record move to the Scottish champions.
Last week, Mika Baur and Haissem Hassan completed their respective transfers from Paderborn and Real Oviedo.
