Consumer champion Martin Lewis won the award for Best TV Expert at the National Television Awards (NTAs) on Thursday night and used the opportunity to urge "somebody" in the UK Government to "get a grip on the economy" as he gave his acceptance speech.

The financial journalist didn't mince his words after beating Sir David Attenborough, Jay Blades and Kaleb Cooper to scoop the inaugural award.
After expressing his shock at the win, he said how the cost of living crisis has been "disastrous" and has left many people with mental health problems. He also warned that the next year is going to be even more difficult with the knock-on effect to mortgages and rents.
