Money guru Martin Lewis sparked a debate on whether pets are a luxury item as people are looking to cut costs around the home.

This comes as reports from RSPCA and Animal Welfare Trust highlighted that more people are abandoning their pets as the cost of living squeezes households.

On his Ask Martin spot on BBC 5 Live, he asked his listeners what would be the last luxury they would give up.
