Martin Lewis has blasted a bizarre conspiracy theory about energy prices, branding it 'nonsense,' in a damning social media post.
The money saving expert and Good Morning Britain guest host has been trying to address consumer concerns over the sharp rise in the costing of living, brought about by a hike in energy bills across the country. Over the last few weeks he has been responding to questions on GMB, on fellow ITV show This Morning and on his Twitter page.
And it was on his timeline that he called out the theory about energy meters which claimed that, if you take away the meter itself you won't get charged for any energy you use. Swiftly shutting it down, Martin wrote: "There's a conspiracy theory suggestion I keep being asked about that energy charges are 'for having a meter' not for fuel use. Therefore 'remove the meter & you use energy for free'. It's just nonsense. You pay for the units of fuel you use, and a standing charge."
