Martin Lewis shares sentimental post as he celebrates anniversary of his 'big baby'

Martin Lewis has shared a sentimental post with his social media followers to mark a very special anniversary. The consumer champion is celebrating 20 years of the all-important MoneySavingExpert website, which he founded in 2003.

The 50-year-old took to Twitter to mark the milestone with a moving message about his "big baby" as he reflected on how much it's grown. Martin, who sold the website in 2012, told his 2.1 million followers: "Happy Birthday to my big baby.... 20 years ago today MoneySavingExpert dot com was officially born. My it's grown!!!!"

The money-saving guru was quickly inundated with messages, as one social media user wrote: "Fantastic work, Martin. All the good it's done," while another added: "I joined the forum back in 2005 as a student. I, like so many others, owe you a debt of gratitude for the financial lessons learned from MSE over the years. Our finances would not be as they are today without all the knowledge and wisdom we have gained from you & the site."

While a third commented: "One of the most valuable resources on the internet," and a fourth said: "Changed a lot of people's lives for the better, you should be very proud."

The milestone comes following Martin's latest The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, which saw him present a 90-minute special on pensions. The presenter hailed it one of the most important shows he's ever done as he issued urgent advice to viewers.

During the ITV programme Martin warned of a deadline for everyone aged 45 to 70 that could be worth thousands. You can read more on this here.

He also told viewers that pensioners could be eligible for pension credit. This could be worth around £67 a week on average, or about £3,500 a year, but it's thought many people aren't aware of the top-up and never claim it. You can read more on this here.
