Martin Lewis shares Christmas light 'good news' amid soaring energy bills

With the festive season just around the corner, you may be thinking about putting up the Christmas decorations.

But with energy bills at an all time high, the cost of putting on the Christmas tree lights may be something you are a little concerned about.

However, Martin Lewis explained that the cost of running the festive lights is a lot less than you may think. The Money Saving Expert shared the good news while appearing on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, November 30. Sitting alongside Susanna Reid, the financial guru said that the cost using LED Christmas tree lights is minimal - whether you turn them on for half an hour or several hours throughout the day.

Speaking on the ITV morning programme, Martin said: "A little bit of good news. As long as you have got LED lights, not the incandescent lights as they are expensive, a string of 100, which is a pretty decent amount, if you were to have them on six hours every day over a month, would cost 18p roughly.

"Eighteen pence for the month. So, they are not very expensive to run.

"I know that many people who are struggling as turning off their Christmas lights. But as long as you have LED lights, they shouldn't be too prohibited to keep your Christmas lights on."
