Rising energy prices in the cost of living crisis have caused many homeowners and renters to avoid putting their heating on due to fearing unaffordable bills. But as the cold winter nights draw in, many people are now desperately looking for cheap alternative ways to keep warm.
Martin Lewis returned to front his self-titled ITV show on Tuesday night (November 8) to give his expert advice amid the increasing economic turmoil. The Martin Lewis Money Show Live, which is now in its 12th series, covers everything from mortgages and money-saving tips to help with energy bills in the cost of living crisis.
During last night's one hour 15 minute long show, the Money Saving Expert founder answered important money related questions from viewers and provided his best tips and tricks for saving on energy bills.

Amongst his expert advice, Martin shared ways to help households keep warm without turning the heating on.
"In April my team and I did some work on a thing called heat the human and not the home. It was really depressing the fact that we needed to do it because of the way energy prices were going and the way some people wouldn't be able to turn their central heating on," he said.
"As it turned out the research that we did has been really useful, not just for people that are in desperate states but for many who just want to reduce their central heating.
"Lots of stuff from how you effectively layer clothes but the one that really took off was small electrical items for heating the person."
Martin then went on to show viewers a number of cheap electrical items you can buy to keep you warm that are cost-effective to run - with some costing as little as 1p per hour based on a rate of 34p/kw.
Here are the items that the money-saving expert recommends instead of putting your heating on:
Heated gloves
Heated gloves are a great way to keep warm. They are USB powered and cost around £5 to buy but cost less than 1p per hour to run.
Heated insoles
As Martin says, if your feet feel warm then you feel warm. These cost around £8 to buy, run for less than 1p per hour and are USB powered.
Hand warmers
Hand warmers are another effective way to keep warm in winter. They are USB powered and can be bought for around £9 costing just less than 1p per hour.
Microwave wheat bag
A microwave wheat bag also costs less than 1p per hour to keep you warm. You can typically buy these for around £4 and you pop them in the microwave for 60 seconds.
Hot water bottle
A hot water bottle is a more commonly known household item to keep you warm. These cost around £5.50 for a 1.5 litre bottle and boiling water in a kettle cost around 7p per hour.
Martin Lewis said a big tip is to put it in a sleeping bag and put it over you to keep it insulated so less heat escapes and it lasts longer.
Electric blanket
You can buy an electric blanket for around £18 and plugging it into your mains costs around 3p per hour to run.
Electric gilet
Martin said the gilet is "very popular". Although it is a more expensive one off purchase of £51, it is effective in keeping your whole body warm.
It is charged via a USB and typically costs less than 1p per hour to run.
