Martin Lewis says he turned down ITV I'm a Celebrity more than once after slating campmates

Martin Lewis has revealed he turned down being an I'm a Celebrity campmate more than once. The Withington-born money saving expert said he's already been approached by show bosses after slating the behaviour of campmates on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The 50-year-old financial journalist took to Twitter to say he 'rolls his eyes' at comments made on the much-loved ITV reality show. He told his followers: "I do roll my eyes when I hear "I don't know what I'm doing here" on #ImACeleb.

He explained: "It's an entertainment TV booking. You're on there for one or more of... 1) a paycheque 2) to boost your profile 3) to rehabilitate your image. Simples."

@Markonair agreed: "Why do they always tell us what they are frightened of on #ImACeleb? Wouldn't it be better to say 'I'm scared of comfy mattresses and lattes with croissants for breakfast.'

Then another follower asked if he fancied a trip into the famous jungle reality show. @Rob_Hammond wondered: "Would you ever do it?" And Martin replied: "Nope. Said no more than once."

@GTaylorITE asked: "Any celebrity show that you would do?" And he replied: "I'd only do one-off things so single programmes as I don't have any time for training or to be off work. And they'd have to be something I'd genuinely enjoy doing."

@thelifeofjadey told him: "That is a shame as it would be great to see someone decent like yourself on there!" and @LewGanners said: "Tbf I’d watch it just so I’d see more of your tips."
