The cost of living spike coming in April is 'the worst' crisis Brits have seen in 22 years, says financial expert Martin Lewis. Television's Money Saving Expert has made a direct plea to Chancellor Rishi Sunak to help the poorest Brits in Wednesday's Spring Statement.
Mr Sunak has today hinted he could slash fuel duty and did not rule out changes to income tax or National Insurance thresholds to give people a little more for their money. He revealed he has set up a cost of living uni in the Treasury - amid suggestions he could raise the £150 council tax rebate or £200 repayable discount off energy bills, reports The Mirror.
He also claimed he could be lowering taxes by 2024. It comes after the tax burden has been risen to its highest in 70 years.
