Money Saving expert Martin Lewis has warned soaring energy bills could effectively leave people in a form of "lockdown" because rising fuel prices mean they can't afford to leave home. He said that while fuel bills are "disastrous", energy bills are even worse and set to rise by £1,300 a year for many households.
The presenter called on the UK Government to help more before people had to choose between "starving and freezing". The comments came during a debate on the rising cost of living on Good Morning Britain, which he was co-hosting on Monday morning with Susanna Reid.
