Martin Lewis issues 'don't go near it' warning to millions of people

Martin Lewis has told millions of people to avoid a "scam run by criminals" as he returned to social media on Monday.

The Money Saving Expert founder regularly shares updates but took a short break over the weekend. This morning he urged his millions of Twitter followers "don't go near it" after being contacted by a fan.

Mr Lewis frequently reminds people he never does adverts or endorses any kind of saving or other financial schemes. In January he told his social media followers: "Sadly criminals are again hard pushing scams using my face and name, often with pics from TV shows.

"If you want to check just search on Money Saving Expert to see if it's something I've actually said, if it's not there, it won't be."

And in February he said on ITV's This Morning: "If you see any advert online with me in it is a lie. It is thieves trying to steal your money."

Over the weekend, one MSE fan has contacted Mr Lewis to ask if he is behind something advertised as a scheme that would supposedly see a £250 investment turned into more than £25,000 each month. He said: "Hi ⁦@MartinSLewis⁩ you endorsing this?

"I have come across a few adverts very similar to this with you name plastered all over it. "

Mr Lewis replied: "No it's a scam run by criminals. Don't go near it!"
