Martin Lewis issues Black Friday warning as he urges shoppers to think before buying

Martin Lewis has issued an important Black Friday warning which comes amid cost of living crisis at a time where people are trying to save money but also buy gifts for their loves ones.

Taking to social media, Martin Tweeted to his two million Twitter followers telling them that the Black Friday deals they are looking at may not be as good as they think.

In a Tweet he said that shoppers - regardless of what they're buying - should be careful about the way they look at certain bargains.

He said: "My Black Friday shopping memo... If you were going to buy it anyway and it's half price, you've saved 50 per cent.

"If you weren't going to buy it, but do because it's half price you've wasted 100 per cent."

The memo was noted by several people with them all in an agreement that the Black Friday sales often cause people to part with money that they otherwise would have spent on something they actually wanted or needed.

And for many of us, we often buy things we see on the day - simply because it's at a reduced price when we don't actually need the item in question- and this is where we have to be careful.

In response to his warning one said: "Black Friday is just the stores way of getting rid of old stock by wrapping it up in a special day (stolen from America) that makes you think you're getting a bargain. Shops best avoided that weekend!"

Another tweeted: "Very well said Martin. I have never understood this rush to buy and its always old stock anyway. People keep your money in your pocket."

"Exactly! I'm going to have a quick look for some things the kids want for Christmas & if I can get them reduced, all the better" wrote a third.
