Money saving expert Martin Lewis has issued some time advice about heating your home. It comes as snow has started to fall in parts of Scotland.
With the mercury dropping quickly in recent days, his advice could potentially save you a small fortune. First, the 50-year old consumer champion addressed the belief many people have - that it is cheaper to leave your heating on a low level all day.
Others, meanwhile, suggest you should only turn it on when required. Martin has now settled that debate, however, according to MEN.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain he said: "The general advice from the energy saving trust is that you have your heating on when you need it, and you turn it off when you don't need it. The myth that it is cheaper to have it on all day is false."

He added: "But in most cases, you turn the heat on when you need it and turn it off when you don't. It's best to do it on a timer and a thermostat."
Martin also revealed a common mistake people make regarding the adjustment of the central heating temperature. His advice is to keep the temperature at a predetermined setting.
He said: "When it gets cold, people turn their thermostat up, but if it's set to 20 degrees, you don't need to turn it up because you're cold now. You're just going to have to wait until it gets up to the temperature.
"Don't turn it up to 22 just because it's not on right now. That's what a thermostat is for. It will give you the temperature that you've predefined it to be."
It comes as snow has started falling in northern Scotland, with some roads already blanketed and more blizzard conditions expected in the coming days. Photos from Moray show dangerous conditions on the A96 road between Keith and Huntly, with several inches of snow already on the ground.
Scotland is braced for freezing temperatures over the coming days, with cold air coming in from the Artic. A weather warning is in place for snow and ice until Friday afternoon covering the Highlands, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
Forecasters have predicted that snowfall could reach up to 10-15cm with temperatures as low as -10°C overnight in some spots, and more weather warnings might also be on their way. Blizzard conditions are likely the Met Office has said and they have urged drivers to take extra precautions.
