People could lose thousands of pounds on holidays if they haven’t taken key precautions about their passports, Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis warned. The serious call came after reports highlighting a series of holiday disasters involving people having to turn back at the airport and losing everything.
Appearing on ITV’s This Morning to answer questions from the public, Mr Lewis heard from one caller who said that their passports had so far taken three months to come - and had still not arrived. The distraught family said they were set to lose around £2,600 from a break they were due to fly out on the next day, the Echo reports.
On being asked if they could get any compensation Martin replied: “It is very difficult and I haven’t really got an answer, but let me talk you through it. The first thing to say is with your holiday company did you have any cancellation rights?
