Martin Lewis gets National Television Awards votes for 'trying to save lives'

Martin Lewis has received endless praise and support from his Twitter followers after asking for votes in the National Television Awards.

The MoneySavingExpert founder revealed to his 1.5 million followers he'd been nominated for the gong in the Expert category for his saving tips on The Martin Lewis Money Show. He said it is the first time that he remembers the NTA's ever having an 'expert' category.

The presenter was up against one of the nation's biggest treasures - Sir David Attenborough - and made a note that "competition was stiff." However, many fans still had Martin's back and offered him their votes, as they praised him for the excellent work that he does providing people with invaluable financial advice during such difficult times.

Taking to Twitter, Martin wrote: "Morning folks. For the first time (that I remember) the NTAs has a new 'experts' category. The competition is very stiff. So if you fancied giving me a vote, that'd be very kind (then do click through to the end and fill in details or it won't count)."

He later added: "PS than you to everyone who's done this. Fingers crossed (this is the long list, then have to get through the short list)!"

Fans were quick to compliment his hard work and shared their comments. Katie said: "Done, you have literally tried to save people's lives - you deserve to win, good luck for later this year."

Christine said: "Just voted for you Martin, you deserve to win it. What a decent, honest trustworthy man you are. Good luck." Dee said: "Voted for you. You help so many people, it will be well deserved if you win. Good luck."

Frances said: "Done. You've done so much for people during the crisis of this #ToxicTory government, I even gave you my vote which would normally go to David Attenborough! Keep doing what you're doing, people really appreciate it!"
