Martin Lewis has admitted to "cringing" as his new charity Christmas single with LadBaby is released - but has said that he hopes that the new hit raises awareness as well as money for charity to help struggling households.
The new single Food Aid from LadBaby couple Mark and Roxanne Hoyle is a parody of the famous Band Aid hit Do They Know It's Christmas, featuring lookalikes of music stars such as Elton John, Paul McCartney, Adele, Stormzy and Ed Sheeran, as well as the MoneySavingExpert founder himself. All profits from downloads of the single will go to The Trussell Trust, a charity working to stop hunger and poverty in the UK, and the Band Aid Trust.
YouTube star LadBaby, who has become famous in recent years for his parody singles made to raise money for charity including We Built This City On Sausage Rolls, confirmed earlier this week that he had received permission from Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and the Band Aid Trust to recreate the iconic number. The couple said: "We never intended to release a fifth Christmas single but as ambassadors of the Trussell Trust we were not prepared to sit back and do nothing in a year when people are struggling more than ever."

In a very different role than fans are used to seeing him in, Martin Lewis lends his singing voice to the new single and can be seen crooning into a microphone in the official music video that was released today, Wednesday December 16. Martin admitted that he initially thought LadBaby had "confused me with someone else" when asked to feature on the song, but vowed to "give it a go with gusto" after learning that proceeds would go to a good cause.
Martin belts out lines including: "This Christmas time, charity's really coming home," and: "Tonight we're reaching out and helping you," in reworked versions of the famous Band Aid lyrics. Turning to the camera in the music video, Martin then drops his singing voice to deliver the serious message: "There won't be food for everyone this Christmas time."
The whole group then sings: "When there's nowhere else to go, when the 'leccy's running low, let's make it a Christmas time for all," before chanting: "Feed the UK - help someone this Christmas time."
Sharing the new song on Twitter, Martin wrote: "I'm cringing a bit, but hope it gives some a smile in these dour times. My main hope is it raises awareness that, sadly, terribly, far too many in the UK need foodbanks."
He added: "If you enjoy it and can afford it, please feel free to donate a little (cash, food, time) to the Trussell Trust or your local food bank. Don't enjoy it and hate novelty songs / me / LadBaby, please feel free to donate anyway." You can watch LadBaby's Food Aid video featuring Martin Lewis on YouTube above.
