Martin Lewis 'act now' advice to knock £1,000 off household bills as clock is ticking

Consumer champion Martin Lewis has spoken out and urged homeowners to check their mortgage after the Bank of England raised interest rates. He says by acting now you could save hundreds or pounds.

This is the fourth consecutive interest rate rise and Lewis says that those on variable tariffs have around 30-days to shop around before their bills rise, while others on soon-to-expire fixed deals may want to consider locking in a new tariff now, reported Mirror.

In Wednesday's MSE newsletter, the financial guru said: "The cheapest rates have disappeared - if your fix ends soon-ish or you're on the standard rate, check NOW if you can save,"
