Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Martin Dubravka but remain locked in negotiations with Newcastle.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper wants to join the Red Devils after being usurped by Nick Pope at St James' Park, while United manger Erik ten Hag is keen on bringing in some healthy competition for current No.1 David de Gea before deadline day. However, the two clubs are at odds over the details of the transfer, as both sides look to make a deal in their best interests.
According to reports in Italy, Dubravka has come to an agreement with the Red Devils and hopes that Newcastle will allow him to leave for such an enticing opportunity. United's proposal is believed to be season-long loan with an option to buy for £5million. But that isn't what Newcastle want, as Sky Sports add that the Magpies would rather to sell the Slovakian permanently or at the very least let him go on loan with an obligation to buy.
The Mail also claim that Newcastle requested a loan for Red Devils midfielder Scott McTominay as part of the deal but United weren't willing to negotiate his inclusion. Old Trafford chiefs will continue to thrash out a deal before Thursday's 11pm deadline, the same night Ten Hag and co travel to Leicester City for a Premier League match.
The Red Devils have already missed out on two goalkeepers from the Bundesliga, with top target Yann Sommer preferring to remain as Borussia Monchengladbach 's No.1. Eintracht Frankfurt shot-stopper Kevin Trapp made the same decision and even revealed United's interest in a public statement, explaining that he'd turned down their advances in favour of staying in Germany.
Ten Hag has confirmed that the Red Devils will be busy right up until the transfer window slams shut, having earned his second Premier League win after United beat Southampton 1-0 on Saturday. "We stick to the plan," the Dutchman declared. "If a good player is available we will strike. We will be alert until the last second of the window."

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe recently shed light over Dubravka's situation ahead of their trip to Wolves on Sunday. The Magpies boss signed Pope from Burnley this summer and immediately installed the England international as his new No.1. "He's not in talks with Man United but there has been contact with the clubs," Howe confirmed. "Those will continue but I'm reluctant to lose him. It's a decision that's out of my hands really."
Having arrived in the north east from Sparta Prague in January 2018, Dubravka has previously shown no desire to leave St James' Park and has a contract which expires in 2025.
