Martin Compston sparks Line of Duty season 7 rumours after hanging out with cast

Line of Duty star Martin Compston has got fans questioning if another series of the hit BBC police drama is returning.

Previously, he and the rest of the cast, including Adrian Dunbar and Vicky McClure, haven't ruled out another season, but Martin, who played Steve Arnott, said it was up to writer Jed Mercurio.

But fans think the Scottish actor could have hinted that a new season could be on its way after sharing a picture on Twitter of himself, Adrian, Vicky and Jed appearing to be out for a meal.

To which Martin captioned it: "Talking tattoo designs."

This could very well be a nod to the agreement he and his fellow co-stars made last year.

In May, Mercurio said that if Line of Duty hit a milestone, they would all get 'AC12million' tattooed.

The much-anticipated final episode was watched by an average of 12.8 million people, with a 56.2 per cent share in overnight viewing figures, making it the most watched episode of a drama in 20 years, according to the BBC.

On the tweet, one fan replied: "Eeeeeeeek! LOD7?"

A second wrote: "Definitely a new LOD being discussed. My bet the storyline will be about corrupt cops working for a corrupt government."

"Mother of god, you’d better be talking new series plots/plot twists while you’re there!!!", a third jumped in.

And a fourth wrote: "Hope this means a new season."
