Martin Compston explains how he met 'beautiful' wife Tianna Chanel Flynn

In a bonus episode of his podcast, Martin Compston has revealed how he met his "beautiful" wife Tianna all those years ago - and why he's glad he never had to use a dating app.

Talking alongside Gordon Smart in their Reckless Natives podcast, the bonus episode which was released today (February 17) gave an insight into the Line of Duty star's love life with his American actress and real-estate agent wife.

And it's fair to say the Vigil actor is thankful he never had to swipe left or right.

Joking about dying Gordon's eyebrows, Martin says: "What did Kate [Gordon's wife] say, other than sign up to eHarmony, when you asked her to dye your eyebrows?"

Jokingly quizzing him on how he knew what the dating site was, Martin spoke about other sites and apps including Tinder and how years ago people were ashamed to meet on an app compared to today.

Talking about his own experience, and lack of dating apps he said: "I met Tianna, my beautiful wife, fell in love, had to talk to her at the bar actually. Had to approach somebody and have a bit of a conversation.

"A friend of mine at the time, lovely wee guy but a bit nervous, he was on a date practically every week with a model just because of this bio he had of being a famous actor."

And whilst Martin fell in love with the woman he met at the bar, he wasn't too keen on dating apps with there being a lack of effort with some of the people who use them.

he continued: "The hardest thing about going up to somebody is not to come off as a serial killer - it's terrifying and I'm a bit ranging now because the hardest bit is getting a date. They don't even need to do that anymore. There's no effort, where is the charm?

"I put in years of graft, thankfully it paid off, but it infuriates me now that you just literally flick right or left and that's it."

Chiming in, Gordon joked: "That's why you'd be absolutely f*****. It's purely down to the superficial. You remove Martin Compston's patter and your nickname would be 'swipe right'. If we were leaving school right now, I'd call you swipey. You'd get f*** all."

Laughing hysterically at his joke, the Greenock actor quickly swiped back: "I'd just put in the bio Most stylish man in Scotland, Dr Compston, star of the most successful drama of this century."

Whilst the pair do not use dating apps, they did ask their followers to submit what they think their Tinder profile would look like and what they bios would read.
