LINE of Duty star Martin Compston has announced he is planning a music festival in his hometown of Greenock to raise money for a local hospice.
Compston has said that he will look to sign up top acts to play in the fundraiser for the Ardgowan Hospice.
The Scots film star added that he is hoping thousands of partygoers will flock to Battery Park in Greenock to attend the charitable party.
Among the acts Compston is looking to attract to Inverclyde are Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Calvin Harris and Paolo Nutini.
Compston, who has a track record of looking to help those less fortunate, has been a supporter of the hospice, where his late uncle was a resident, since 2014.
He said: “I do a lot of fundraising for the hospice back in Greenock and we’ve had some band nights and comedy nights.
“There is a place called Battery Park which is five minutes from my house where I went to see fireworks displays and the circus. I would love to put on a festival there.
“I have no idea if that is even doable. I am a very proud Greenock boy and I would love to see big bands there.
“That to me would be something special. I am putting it out there because I do feel if you say something and it becomes public, you kind of need to then follow through.
“My idea is I want to see big bands in Greenock as well as raise money for the hospice.”
