Martin Brundle questions Mason Mount about Manchester United move on Spanish GP grid

Mason Mount dodged a question about his Manchester United links as Martin Brundle stuck a microphone under his nose on the Spanish Grand Prix grid.

Several football stars made the trip to Barcelona to soak in the F1 action and among them were Chelsea duo Mount and Ben Chilwell. Of course, the former is not expected to remain at Stamford Bridge for too much longer with a move to United on the cards.

But he clearly did not want to speak on those rumours when Brundle brought it up on his pre-race grid walk. He simply laughed and replied: "I'm here to simply enjoy this race today. It's an amazing day and I can't wait to watch it."

He went on to add: "This is my third race, I went to Monaco and Silverstone last year and this is a good one to come to. I'm with Red Bull so hopefully Max [Verstappen] wins and Lando [Norris] is my mate as well. I'm enjoying it and hoping for a good race."

While Mount is a veteran of the F1 grid these days, it was Chilwell's first taste of the experience. He told Brundle: "Thanks for having us. It's my first time on the grid and first time at F1 full stop. It's crazy just seeing how the teams work and the synchronicity of it all.

"I was pretty stunned by it all, really. I had a talk with a few of the mechanics yesterday and we were saying there was a relatableness [sic] between a football team and the mechanics."

Neymar had been present at the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend and made the short hop down to Barcelona for this race as well. And also spotted was former Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry, fresh from his latest Bundesliga title success with Bayern Munich.

He told Sky Sports reporter Craig Slater: "The end was very satisfying, to be honest, after a season which had a lot of ups and downs. We were happy to win the championship for the 11th time in a row – it's not something that's easily done, so we're good."

Asked if he had been keeping tabs on Arsenal, the Germany international added: "Yeah of course. Once a Gunner always a Gunner, so I was rooting for them and hoping, but I think they had a very good season."
