Lee Johnson reckons it will take Edinburgh derby hero Martin Boyle only two weeks to get up to full speed.
And he believes strike partner Elie Youan is already there and only needs the rest of the Hibs team to catch up with just how quick he really is. The duo combined on Sunday to snatch that last-gasp draw against Hearts and Hibs boss Johnson is convinced there will be far more to come when his side harnesses the genuine pace they now possess at the top end of the pitch.
Boyle hadn’t played since June 28 before being thrown on as a sub just 24 hours after returning from Saudi Arabia and his manager is expecting him to be firing on all cylinders shortly. He said: “If you’ve got pace in the team like we have with Youan and Boyle then moments like the goal are there in games.
“I don’t expect it to be too long, maybe two weeks, before Martin will be ready for 90 minutes. He is a light player, fleet footed. The way he moves across the ground, players like that are quicker to come through, fitness-wise, than the 6ft 4in targetman. We have a really good sports science team here…so I think we will get his journey mapped out well and get him starting as quickly as possible.”
Johnson believes Youan could be a sensation and added: “I think he has more in him, I really do. The lads need to understand how quick he is.”
