Australia and Hibs winger Martin Boyle has flown in to Qatar to back the Socceroos following knee surgery which has edned his campaign.
The 29-year-old was forced to withdraw from Graham Arnold's World Cup squad and Hibs fans became increasingly concerned over the extent of the injury when he shared a snap in a hospital bed watching the tournament. Following surgery, the Easter Road hero is set for a significant period on the sidelines after a cruciate tear was detected during the operation and will miss the remainder of the Scottish Premiership campaign.
Despite going under the knife earlier this week Boyle has shown his determination to back his teammates as he was spotted ahead of the match with Tunisia in crutches. He didn't let the injury dampen his spirits as he was spotted laughing and joking with his teammates including Hearts star Cammy Devlin at the Al Janoub Stadium.
When announcing he was pulling out of the squad, Boyle stated: “Extremely proud to have been selected and to have played my part in qualifying for the tournament. Grateful to be kept in camp and show my full support to the lads on and off the field and to experience the whole World Cup!
"Will no doubt be back stronger than ever but for now my full focus is on being the vibe manager for the lads!” Now he has been able to live up to his "vibe manager" promise despite being sidelined.
