Portland Timbers boss Marti Cifuentes has addressed transfer interest in Kevin Kelsy and hinted that the striker could leave the club.
Rangers have the Venezuelan forward on their shortlist of options this summer following the news that Youssef Chermiti had suffered an ACL injury against Hibernian.
Kelsy, 22, has two years in the MLS under his belt and is considered an athletic and talented player who could potentially suit life at Ibrox under Derek McInnes. And discussions have already taken place between both clubs.
So when Spanish coach Cifuentes was asked about Kelsy's future at the club, the former Leicester City manager admitted that some of his talent could depart.
For Cifuentes it's important to ensure they are properly replaced.
He said: "You expect players to leave, but I am working with Ned [Grabavoy, general manager] and Jack [Dodd, technical director] to find the best possible way to reinforce this team."
We told you on the Rangers Review recently how Kelsy is not the only striker that has been the subject of discussions.
As Rangers work to finalise a deal, it is easier to rule names out and the Rangers Review understands that Sheffield United’s Ryan One is not a target at present.
No move was made to try and hijack Joel Gelhardt’s switch from Leeds United to Hull City, and it is understood that former Ibrox kid Rory Wilson is also not under consideration.
