In the short weeks between now and Thanksgiving, it's likely that the hosts among us will start thinking about the perfect fall tablescape. For Martha Stewart, however, the planning started as early as August.
The lifestyle guru sat down with H&G's celebrity style team last month, and in the interview, she confirmed that she's not only started planning for Thanksgiving but also for her iconic Christmas party (which she hasn't hosted since 2019, by the way). Naturally, therefore, she's breaking her hiatus in style – but following suit doesn't need to be expensive. In fact, most of her Thanksgiving table decor stems from her garden.
In Martha Stewart's interview, she shared how she decorates with homegrown pumpkins, squash, and the last of the beautiful dahlias. 'I'm looking at two great big vases of dahlias right now, bringing in that fall color,' she says. 'There's not a lot in the garden, but what's there is special. Also, branches of changing colored leaves [that] look really pretty when you bring them into the house. Even a big bowl of chestnuts that had fallen on the ground is a gorgeous centerpiece.'
Natural pieces aside, Stewart adorns her tablescape with the most ambient accessory of all: candles. She chooses silver for her dining room table (while she keeps her living room candlesticks gold or brass-colored).
