Marshawn Lynch said the NFL fined him $1.2 million during his career for his media avoidance

Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was just there so he wouldn’t get fined. According to Lynch, the NFL might’ve gotten the last laugh.

While appearing on the I Am Athlete podcast, Lynch looked back on the main repercussion from his spotty history with talking to the media during his playing days.

As you’ll remember, Lynch earned headlines in 2015 from his “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” media holdout during Super Bowl 49.

Over the course of his career, Lynch suggested on the podcast that the NFL fined him “a pretty penny” (a total of $1.2 million) for his occasional lack of engagement with the media. That’s a lot of money!

While Lynch has successfully transitioned his career from football to comedic acting, it probably wasn’t a laughing matter for him once the NFL’s fines started rolling in.

Although, he’s still one of the most beloved players from his generation, and there are undoubtedly a few BeastQuake fans out there who would’ve helped Lynch pay off his NFL fines.
