Marsch’s touchline spat
In the 39th minute of the game, Liam Coyle went in high on Junior Firpo with his boot and took a yellow card for his troubles. It was a challenge which prompted a strong reaction from the technical areas.
Jesse Marsch went down the touchline and into the Accrington Stanley technical area to make his feelings known on the matter. Jimmy Bell, John Coleman’s long-time right-hand man, was only too happy to go face-to-face with the American and order him back to his own box.
Bell kept having pop after pop at Marsch, who began by trying to ignore the Accrington man, but ultimately failed to hold his tongue. He told Bell to shut his mouth.

Kristensen’s goalie banter
As Rasmus Kristensen came off at the half-time whistle, he was seen chatting and laughing with an unlikely player. Toby Savin, the Accrington goalkeeper, was yapping away with a smile on his face as he came off with the Danish right-back.
Harrison’s Greenwood frustration
Jack Harrison was having a very good day at Accrington. The winger knew he was on a flyer and he was craving the ball as often as possible.
After an especially frustrating period for the deadlock breaker, he could be seen screaming at Sam Greenwood for a square pass in the 75th minute. Harrison couldn’t bottle up his frustration with yet another passage of play failing to reach him.
A pointed Harrison embrace and talk
When Harrison was eventually withdrawn from his man-of-the-match display, Marsch made a point of giving the winger a pointed, extended embrace. There was also a lengthy chat as they exchanged feedback, with gestures, on how they had each seen the game go.
