I compared Mars to Lidl’s Choco Caramel and Aldi’s Titan and one is definitely worth picking up

Chocolate lovers looking to pick up a sweet treat from a supermarket are spoilt for choice.

If you pop into most retailers you will no doubt spot Mars on the shelves but how does the favourite compare to its rivals?

Price-wise you are looking at shelling out £1.25 at your local Tesco for a pack of four Mars bars.

But if you are looking to save your pennies you can throw a pack of six Lidl’s Choco & Caramel Bars into your basket for just 62p.

Or you can head through the doors of Aldi and buy a six pack of Titan for 62p too.

But what really is the difference?

They look similar but the cheaper rivals offer more value for your money.

Mars (four pack) - £1.25

Mars is the original and a pack of four can be snapped up for £1.25 (Liz Perkins)

Mars encourages people to ‘Play Longer’ and is made of milk chocolate with soft nougat and a caramel centre.

Titans have exactly the same ingredients compared to Lidl’s which makes the bars out of milk chocolate with candy creme and caramel filling.

Although Mars bars may have shrunk in size over the years, they still taste as good.

Choco & Caramel Bars (six pack) - 62p

Lidl’s Choco & Caramel Bars may be at the lower end of the price scale but the milk chocolate blends well with the caramel inside.

In texture it's like a Mars bar but taste-wise it is slightly bland but very close to the real deal.

Titan (six pack) - 62p

Aldi’s offering of a Titan competes well on price and although it has a slightly different taste to Lidl’s version in terms of texture you would think you were tucking into a Mars bar.

But although the chocolate is very close to the original it’s not exactly the same.

The packaging on both products may not look as well designed as the Mars bar but are worth popping in your trolley.

Overall verdict

Mars still holds its own as a top bite, with the caramel flowing out as soon as you sink your teeth into the chocolate.

It may cost you more as in some supermarkets you can buy a individual bar for 50p.

But if you want to pay less a Titan is definitely worth picking up.
