An alien teddy peers from the surface of the Red Planet
(Picture: University of Arizona)The Red Planet’s rocky surface is pocked with craters, canyons, and volcanoes that make for an awe-inspiring sight. The unique topography can sometimes result in downright weird and even eerie landforms, like the human visage illusion created by a rock formation that was captured by the Viking 1 spacecraft in 1976.
Now, Nasa has spotted arguably the cutest bit of terrain on Mars: A piece of the planet that looks like the face of a bear. A new image captured by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) shows a teddy bear martian apparently grinning back at Nasa’s satellite.
