Mars Wrigley has been fined more than £12,000 after two workers fell into a vat of chocolate. The Mars Wrigley factory in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania was fined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
A hole had to be cut into the bottom of the partly-full tank to get the two men out and one was taken to hospital by helicopter.
Regulators said the men were hired to clean tanks and were not provided with proper safety training. The workers fell into a tank used to mix ingredients for Galaxy chocolate - sold in the US as Dove, reports the BBC.
A Mars Wrigley spokesman said: "The safety of our associates and outside contractors is a top priority for our business. As always, we appreciate Osha's collaborative approach to working with us to conduct the after-action review."
