Married at First Sight returned to our screens earlier this week and has already given us plenty of drama and tears, with one star's mum giving her brutal opinion on Duka and Whitney.
31-year-old Whitney has got a lot of viewers talking and came under fire for her "rude" and "toxic" behaviour. The couple have had a series of tense moments, with Whitney accusing her groom of being "fake" as she screamed at him in the latest episode.
Viewers watching the scenes unfold were horrified and begged Whitney to "leave the experiment", with some saying 31-year-old Duka could "do better".
After last night's episode, Thomas Hartley, who was partnered up with Adrian Sanderson in the experiment, took to Instagram to chat about the episode.
The mental health care assistant sat next to his mum Helen when Whitney came up in the conversation. Helen labelled her "vile", though Thomas pleaded with fans to be kind.
She said: "I'm not being funny Tom let's not pretend. You all knew what you were signing up for, no one strong-armed you into it."
Thomas replied: "No. I mean you're not used to dealing with that many people in a setting when you're not with your family and all of that. I'm not making excuses."
Helen added: "She come in, without knowing anyone and was absolutely vile.
"Why on earth did she go in it? Because it certainly wasn't for frame. You can tell it's not for fame because what would she be famous for? Being an absolute c***?"
Thomas later said: "What I am going to say is that this is all just opinion and I really would hope that no one makes her life difficult because that's the part that really makes my stomach turn.
"The idea of her sitting at home and being bullied by loads of people."
He added: "Try and lead with compassion if you can, otherwise you're just as bad as what she was on the wedding day. so please be kind to everyone, because it's really f***ing hard but it is what it is.
"It's a show for entertainment, we all went into it with whatever we wanted and we're normal people just like everyone else."
The comments come after MAFS star Morag Crichton recently said Whitney and Duka are "doomed to fail".
Writing for The Mirror, she said: "They’ve got to do some serious work to even become friends let alone husband and wife.
"I’m sorry to say it but, this is another relationship that is just doomed to fail and I don’t think it can be blamed on Duka being a Gemini."
