For a while it seemed like the couple were destined for a happy ending but they sadly called it off during the show and have since been publicly at odds.

After a heated podcast added fuel to the fire, Adrian Sanderson gifted Thomas Hartley coal for Secret Santa during the MAFS Christmas reunion episode. Thomas later said the "ship has completely sailed" on their relationship.

Thomas and Adrian had quite a journey on MAFS UK (L to R, Thomas Hartley, Adrian Sanderson) (E4)

Thomas, who recently revealed he would be branching out as a drag performer, shared a picture of the two on their wedding day and wrote: "Happy Anniversary. On this day in 2022 I got married!

"It doesn't always work out the way you picture it, but I wish Adrian all the best and I hope he goes on and reaches all of his dreams and goals in the future!"

This was much shorter than the long caption Adrian posted, using the same picture, he said: "Happy Anniversary. Today marks 1 year since I was married to an absolute lunatic of a man (his words).

"I have to say I'm quite teary writing this. We had a bumpy ride and the only thing I would ever change is the final outcome.

"I miss him and his energy all the time, I miss him boosting me, singing with me, telling him off for the fake tan of the bedsheets and I actually enjoyed being the calm in his storm."

The sweet message addressed their ups and downs, and continued: "I think you'd maybe find it a little surprising to say I don't think any man was ever more kind to me in a lot of ways. That's not to say there was a lot of rough with the smooth, but the one thing he did do was build me up and stop me from tearing myself down and it meant the world.

The pair were often at odds but worked through it (L to R, Thomas Hartley, Adrian Sanderson) (E4)

"Yes there was tough times and they're not disregarded, but I hope you all got to see there was a lot of love there for each other and I'll always cherish that. It has been one of the toughest and craziest years of my life with more ups and downs than you could count and I'm still extremely grateful that we got to go through it together.

"Even though we don't communicate anymore, I want every happiness for him, every flirt, fancy, emotion, experience and enormous love he can find, and I have no doubt on this earth that he truly wants and wishes the same for me.

"So from Good Cop to Bad Cop, 'H' from Steps & Claire Balding… Happy Anniversary. Thanks for the ride, it was never boring."

Fans of the couple expressed their love and support for Adrian and Thomas, with many commenting on Thomas' post asking if he saw the confession.

Thomas posted on his Instagram Story in response to a Q&A asking for the argument to be resolved. Dressed as drag alter ego Pam Sandwich, he tagged Adrian and wrote: "Pam wants a chat... Clearly this is what everyone wants so. Let's talk soon for the lovers."

Adrian also posted some videos responding to questions and said he was more than happy to meet up for a drink or reunion with Thomas, suggesting that they return to Mexico as their honeymoon didn't go to plan.
