Married At First Sight has finally returned to our screens, with a whole host of brand new singletons ready to tie the knot with a complete stranger.
As well as worrying about marrying someone they've never met, contestants also have to plan various details of their wedding day. One person who remembers the tumultuous experience all too well is 2021 star Marilyse Corrigan.
The 38-year-old tied the knot with Franky Spencer on last year’s show. Although the couple called time on their relationship six months after the experiment, the pair have remained good friends.
They were even spotted enjoying a "reunion date" at the end of last year.
Marilyse has now dished the dirt on her experience on MAFS and said she was given just two weeks warning before her wedding day.
"When I went to the dress shop for filming, I didn’t like any of the dresses so I had two weeks to find a dress," she told OK! magazine.
With bridal shops closed during the COVID-19 lockdown, Marilyse had to contact a shop in York and tell them about the show. They were able to open for her and she managed to say yes to the dress.
Marilyse said: "You’re given a budget, so if your dress costs more, you have to cover the additional cost yourself."
The mum-of-two revealed how each contestant is allowed to choose their bridal party and is then given a brochure where they can pick colour schemes and cake flavours.
She said they get eight options for each things.
"For bridesmaids dresses for instance, you have eight styles to choose from and then you have eight colours too.
"I think the guys had to do this because Franky was telling me that he’d chosen navy blue as the theme - I did as well - and that’s the colour the bridesmaids wore," she said.
However, not every couple agrees on the same thing and so some contestants are left surprised on their big day.
Marilyse said her and Franky picked their own first dance songs. Her husband was surprised when the music started playing as it was Marilyse's song which was picked.
In a bid to keep things as under wraps as possible, contestants and guests aren't told where the wedding will take place.
Contestants are kept in a hotel the day before the wedding, with a taxi driver then whisking them off to the venue.
