Married at First Sight’s Chanita Stephenson told former husband Jordan Emmett-Connelly that she didn’t want to rekindle their relationship due to it being “too late”.
It was during the marriage experiment’s Christmas reunion show where the pair discussed their future together.
During the E4 series, Jordan and Chanita appeared to be one of the strongest couples after tying the knot, with the relationship appearing to go from strength to strength as they learned to live with each other. However, after the series ended, Jordan reportedly dumped Chanita and cut off all contact with her.
Chanita was said to be heartbroken, and tried to make the relationship work, to no avail.
Despite renewing their vows in a romantic ceremony, Jordan also said he "didn't see a future" with Chanita.
It was during Sunday's Christmas reunion special that their relationship ended for good.
The couple sat on a sofa together where they had a chat about whether Chanita was willing to give things another try.
The social worker, 30, wore a red strappy satin dress with a sweetheart neckline, and had her hair slicked back into a ponytail with braids.
As tears rolled down her cheeks, she said: “This is all I’ve ever wanted to hear, but yeah I just, I think it might just be a little too late.”
Jordan subsequently replied: “Yeah, ok.”
Chanita continued: “Now, I think, the best thing at the moment is for us to be friends.”
In a voiceover, Chanita said: “I really appreciate, you know, the efforts that Jordan has gone to tonight. The things that he’s saying to me, like, it’s literally making my heart burst, but at the same time I’ve got to protect myself.”
Looking downtrodden, Jordan stroked Chanita’s arm before pulling her in for a hug and planting a kiss on her cheek.
Chanita told The Sun : "There is no chance for us to get back together, that door is closed, I opened it a little bit before but it's slammed, melted the key, it's not opening again. That's how I feel.
"I'd rather us be good friends, because that's something, he's the one that came with me through the experience and we've got a lot of memories that we share, we're just friends."
