With strangers marrying the second they set eyes on each other, the new Married at First Sight Australia is set to bring the drama. From blossoming romances to intense break-ups, viewers are set to head down under as they can now enjoy Married at First Sight Australia in the UK.
The series will air on E4, starting on Monday, March 6 at 7.30pm, and will air weekly from Monday to Thursday. Packing in more drama, each episode will be an hour and a half long. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.
Fans love both the Australian and UK version of the show and many are excited to see the series return. A key part of the show is the brides and grooms and here is everything you need to know about the new batch of romantics hoping to meet their match at the bottom of the aisle.
The brides
Alyssa
Raised as a Mormon, family is a huge part of Alyssa's life. Alyssa, who is 35 and an executive assistant, has been single for 12 months since her seven-year marriage ended and has a two-year-old son who is her number one priority.
The hopeful wife can dig her heels in even when she knows she’s wrong and is very bubbly.
Bronte
Fed up with situtionships and getting her heart broken, Bronte is hoping to find love through the show. She is 28 and an online beauty editor.
Bronte is attracted to the alpha male and wants someone who can hold a conversation. Bronte has trust issues from her previous relationships.
Caitlin
Hopeless romantic Caitlin often falls in love very quickly. The 27-year-old makeup artist and nightclub host has high standards and is unwilling to settle for anything less than she deserves, meaning Caitlin has struggled to find someone remotely close to her forever person. Caitlin is a true homebody who would much rather hang out with her cat and play video games with her dad than be out clubbing.
Claire
Car-loving Claire is looking for a soul mate she can have kids and grow old with. Her ideal man is playful, sexy, and someone who can match her passion and love for a deep and meaningful chat.
Claire is 31 years old and a nursery assistant. Her parents are divorced and she is extremely close to her grandparents, who are the result of an arranged marriage. Now she wants to be the one in the third generation to “make it” in love.
Janelle
Direct, self-assured and driven, Janelle grew up in a very strict and tight Singaporean Chinese family with high expectations. Janelle, a 28-year-old beauty influencer, is very close to her parents and siblings so their approval is very important.
Managing her autoimmune disease lupus means her biological clock ticks louder than for many women nearing 30 so she feels pressure to have kids sooner rather than later.
Lyndall
Living with cystic fibrosis, Lyndall never thought she’d make it to 30, let alone marriage and children, so she didn’t prioritise any long-term plans. But thanks to a new medicine that has dramatically extended her life expectancy, Lyndall has a renewed outlook on finding love.
After living with such major physical restrictions all her life, Lyndall, who is 27 and an accountant, has now become a risk-taker who grabs every moment by the horns and her match needs to live his life the same way.
Melinda
Confident lady Melinda, who is 32 and a CEO in fashion and beauty, wants an ambitious man who is equally business-minded, understands her lifestyle and won’t be clingy, but he must be patient. Beneath her tough exterior, Melinda is very emotional and admits to picking fights in a relationship when she gets bored or insecure about not being number one.
Melissa
At the age of 41, Melissa believes this is her final shot at looking for real love. While she has no problems meeting men, she craves a long-term relationship. Melissa’s 10-year marriage ended several years ago, and she co-parents her son.
Melissa is a hairdresser and is very comfortable with her sexuality and expects her man to keep up.
Sandy
In her mid-thirties, Sandy has never been in a serious relationship. Growing up as an Indian woman born in Australia, Sandy’s parents were keen to uphold the traditional values of Indian culture.
She had limited exposure to the opposite sex, was not allowed to mix with boys and had no male friends. She also went to an all-girls school and studied dental nursing with women. Sandy is 36 and is a dental hygienist.
Tahnee
Sick of dating apps, Tahnee is a PR manager who is 27. She may work in a high-pressure position, but Tahnee is not high-maintenance. Her favourite thing to do is cook food from their national cuisine with her mum - the quickest way to Tahnee's heart is with some Thai cooking.
The grooms
Adam
Cocky and confident, Adam is a modern-day entrepreneur who is always on the lookout for the next business opportunity and the next beautiful girl. Born in England with Jamaican West Indian heritage, Adam was adopted by Australian parents who raised him in Queensland.
Since calling London home for the past six years, Adam has flown halfway across the world with hopes of finding love with someone who is as mature, honest, and open as he is. Adam is 35 and a business owner.
Cameron
Following a dramatic heartbreak by a girl he had fallen for, Cameron took off for a job “out bush”, far away from civilisation to mend his broken heart, and that routine is now part of his identity. He spends months at a time away from 21st-century life, sometimes as far as 600km from a grocery store, which is not helping his search for love.
Cameron is 27 and a carpenter. He has full faith that the experts will find him someone who is loving to him and accepting of his transient lifestyle.
Dan
Semi-retired digital marketing business owner Dan lives an active outdoor lifestyle on the beach at his beloved Gold Coast. At 42, Dan has been married twice and is the father of a 16-year-old girl who is his world. Now Dan is looking for someone who cares about their fitness, is motivated, and who can match his lifestyle, dreams and ambitions.
Duncan
Another romantic who falls in love quickly is Duncan, who is 36 and works in cyber security sales. In a relationship Duncan is “the best friend and the lover”, and he’s searching for a woman with class, emotional intelligence, and confidence.
Harrison
The single dad of a three-year-old, Harrison is open to having more children with the right woman. He is a 32-year-old builder who wants to settle down with a beautiful woman who shares his zest for life, goals, values and sense of humour.
Jesse
With a good knowledge of marriage already, Jesse is 30 and a marriage celebrant. He was formerly in a heavy metal band and officiates in the style of a rock star.
Jesse is extremely fussy when it comes to choosing partners. Given that Jesse gets “the ick” quickly, he is seeking the chance to take the plunge into the experiment in the hope that love can flourish regardless.
Josh
Josh is a single father of two who loves Disney so much that he named his kids after his favourite characters. He works as an advertising client director and is 40.
Since his marriage ended, Josh has attempted to navigate a whole new dating game that has evolved dramatically since he was last single.
Layton
An entrepreneur since he was 19, Layton has built a string of successful businesses, including his latest project in medicinal cannabis for pets. Layton is 35 year-olds and is a CEO at Biotech.
While describing himself as motivated and driven, Layton is less committed to making love a priority. He struggles to compromise and tends to put work first. This sees him spending more time in the office than with a significant other, which takes its toll on his relationships.
Ollie
Raised by his mum and two sisters, Ollie is looking for a strong, independent and patient woman who can accept his sometimes lazy and stubborn nature. Ollie is 26 and is a voice-over artist.
Shannon
With a three-year-old daughter he loves dearly, Shannon was in an on-again-off-again relationship with his ex-partner for many years until eventually ending things with his ex and vowing to move on with someone he can build a future with. Shannon is 30 years old and a personal trainer.
