There’s a new drama starting on BBC1 continuing on Sunday night, while boasting two acting heavyweights as its leading stars, has received mixed reviews to say the least so far.
If you’ve tuned into the channel over the last few weeks, you can’t have failed to have seen the preview adverts for Marriage, which boasts a cast led by big names Sean Bean and Nicola Walker.
Sean put in a stellar star turn alongside Stephen Graham in widely acclaimed prison drama Time lad year, with former Sharpe actor Sean winning a BAFTA earlier this year for his role in the compelling behind bars series.
In Marriage, he shares the screen with another leading light of the British acting world, Nicola. Nicola has starred in countless shows of the years, with notable roles coming in ITV crime drama Unforgotten, where she played now deceased copper Cassie and in BBC divorce lawyer hit The Split.

In four parter Marriage they play couple Ian and Emma who have been together for 30 years. Viewers will see them dealing with the insecurities, the ambiguities, the hopes and the fears that are part of all marriages, as the drama explores the risks and the gifts of a long-term intimate relationship.
Marriage is being billed by the BBC as ‘Sometimes funny, sometimes moving, always revealing.’
Sean and Nichola aren’t the only well known faces on the cast list either.

A teaser for episode one of Marriage reads: "Ian and Emma get back from their holiday in Spain and return to their normal lives. Ian has recently been made redundant and is beginning to adapt to his new existence.
"Emma is doing well at work and trying to balance that with Ian’s feelings. Then their daughter Jessica gets in touch and wants to bring her boyfriend round to meet them."
