Marquis Daniels on Jordan Walsh, Kevin Garnett, and 2010 NBA Finals

Marquis Daniels had an interesting career, going from an undrafted rookie to over 500 regular-season NBA games. Daniels spent three seasons with the Boston Celtics between 2009 and 20012, averaging 4.9 points, 2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists during his tenure with the team.

During a recent “Green With Envy” podcast episode, Daniels joined hosts Will Weir and Greg Maneikis to discuss his career, playing with Kevin Garnett and making the 2010 NBA Finals. Since retiring, Daniels has become the Director of Player Development for Auburn University (his alma mater,) which allowed him to provide an interesting scouting report on Celtics rookie Jordan Walsh.

“He can stretch the floor,” Daniels said. “Really good shooter. Can guard multiple positions. Got a great motor. I can tell his drive for the game is really there. I think he’s a sponge; he seems to learn. Every time we played him, he seemed to have gotten better. So, I think he’s gonna be a great addition to you guys. Just coming in, he can shoot the ball, once he gets it going, i think he’s gonna be a lot better than people think.”

Walsh shone for the Celtics during Las Vegas Summer League and has held his ground when given an opportunity throughout the Celtics’ first three postseason games. However, there’s no guarantee the rookie will get much legitimate playing time once the regular season gets underway.
