Marquinhos hint, Bellerin return - Two things spotted in Arsenal training ahead of Fulham

Arsenal's start to the 2022/23 campaign has been a complete contrast to last season.

Mikel Arteta's side lost their first three games last term but have been the standout performers this season by winning their opening three fixtures against Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth. Summer signings Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have had instant impacts at the Emirates Stadium, whilst William Saliba has been a revelation in defence following his return from a successful loan spell with Marseille.

The Gunners face another newly-promoted side in Fulham this afternoon with Saliba expected to face another tough task against in-form striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. Nicolas Pepe has left the club on-loan which opens up a spot in Arteta's squad, with Arsenal still in the transfer market for more signings ahead of Thursday's deadline.

Ahead of the London derby, football.london has spotted two key things from the Gunners' latest training pictures as Mikel Arteta prepared his side for the game against Fulham.

Marquinhos hint

Summer signing Marquinhos could be involved in the matchday squad against the Cottagers following Pepe's departure on-loan to OGC Nice. The talented Brazilian was left out of the Arsenal under-21 squad that drew against Brighton yesterday, hinting at the fact that Arteta may include the 19-year-old in his squad.

It is highly unlikely that the youngster will start for the Gunners with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli expected to line-up alongside Gabriel Jesus in attack. Fans may get their first glimpse of Marquinhos should Arteta look to bring the Brazilian off the bench depending on the state of the game.

Bellerin chance

Hector Bellerin was involved in first team training despite being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. The Spaniard spent last term on-loan with Real Betis and enjoyed a successful campaign in La Liga, winning the Copa del Rey.

The 27-year-old has made a total of 239 appearances for the Gunners since joining the club back in 2011 and is now in the final year of his current deal. Reports have linked Bellerin with a return to Betis and Barcelona, but the financial situations at both clubs mean a transfer away from Arsenal is tricky.

Bellerin's involvement in training may hint at a potential return to the matchday squad on the bench, with the opportunity to come on as a substitute and prove he can perform in Arteta's squad this season.
