Marnie Simpson shares health concern for son Oax as he's fitted for baby helmet

Reality star Marnie Simpson has been open about her youngest son Oax and his health journey.

Earlier this month the tiny tot was diagnosed with Torticollis, a skull muscular disorder which causes the head to tilt, and also plagiocephaly, which is a flattened head.

Torticollis is described as a tightness in the neck muscles in babies. Whilst there isn't a specific known cause, it's thought to be due to a limit in space inside the uterus which causes the baby’s head to be stuck in one position for a period of time so that the baby is not able to move its neck.

Treatment can vary but can include the help of a physiotherapist and plagiocephaly treatment.

Speaking on her Instagram, former Geordie Shore star Marnie shared how baby Oax will be donning a helmet to help correct the disorder. Last month Marnie revealed on Instagram that his condition had been caused by his position in the womb, and now he's unable to move his head to the left.

The reality TV star, 30, welcomed her second child Oax, now four months old, with fiancé Casey Johnson, 27, in May this year - having already been parents to son Rox, two.

Now baby Oax has been pictured with his first helmet, which mum Marnie has shared on her Instagram. Speaking to her 5.2million followers, she wrote: "So baby Oax had his helmet fitted yesterday and his Plagiocephaly treatment has begun, to say I’m feeling overwhelmed is a understatement!

"But I trust the process and I know it’s going to be a Journey for us as a family, and it’s going to take some serious perseverance from me and casey but the guys @technologyinmotion are so comforting and have made me feel as content as possible about the whole experience!"

She added: "I’ll document the whole progress made for everyone to see and I’ll keep everyone up to date how we’re getting on if anyone wants any advice my DM is always open."

Fans were quick to rush and share their support for Oax and Marnie. One fan commented: "The happiest baby and so resilient through any health troubles."

Another shared: "he is the cutest!! And this just makes him even more of a superhero."

"He is a blessing," wrote a third.

Last month mum of two Marnie opened up abut Oax's conditions, sharing she felt 'shocked' by how severe the condition is.

She wrote on her Instagram about the condition, citing the NHS description. She then went on to reveal: "As you can see on Oax's graph he's on the severe side which even shocked me."

She added: ""He's had his measurements taken yesterday by @technologyinmotion and in 2 weeks he'll get his helmet fitted. This company was recommended to me by various different places.

"Oax's head should end up in the yellow/green zone which is fab. Treatment should start between 4-6 months while the skulls are soft."

Marnie added: "I've taken before pictures so I can accurately compare and document the process for you all."

Marnie said she had received numerous messages about it, adding: "I'm being open about his progress as I know so many parents don't even know about the issue and it gets left."
