Consumer giant Unilever, whose brands include Marmite, Dove soap and Ben & Jerry's ice cream, has been called on to focus further on health by a group of major asset managers and shareholders after a week of fierce criticism for the manufacturer.
The company has been urged by the coalition of investors, backed by Share Action, to adopt ambitious targets to increase the share of healthy foods in its sales amid fears it could be struck hard by regulatory changes.
The move comes after a difficult week for Unilever, which saw its shares slide after confirming a roughly £50bn approach for GlaxoSmithKline's consumer arm was rebuffed.
