Marlon Fossey is looking forward to stepping into a new environment and build upon his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers last season by playing at a higher level than he was with the Whites with new club Standard Liege.
The 23-year-old defender spent part of the second half of the season on loan at Wanderers from newly promoted Premier League side Fulham. Fossey played 16 times and scored once after moving to the club at the start of January in an impressive spell that was cut short owing to injury.
Wanderers and boss Ian Evatt had previously made no secret of the fact that would have liked to have signed the wing-back this summer. Fossey has a year left on his contract with the Cottagers.

However, Wanderers moved on from signing the defender when competition from the Championship for his signature emerged. They later signed Conor Bradley on loan from Liverpool for the campaign, who they had sought originally in January.
Fossey has now moved to Belgian side Standard Liege on a permanent deal, with 12 months of his Fulham deal remaining. The defender is looking forward to testing himself in a new environment and a higher level than he was with Wanderers in League One.
Speaking to Fulham's website, Fossey said: "It's a sad moment leaving Fulham and saying my goodbyes a few days ago was emotional. I've been in and around the club for about 12 years so I'm comfortable with everyone.
"It's also exciting that I'm stepping into a new environment at a higher level than I was playing at last season. The key for me was to play at a higher level consistently, and hopefully if I put the work in I can achieve that now.
"Initially [when he joined], I was coming over every weekend for like a month and thankfully I did sign with my family there with me. My time here has been amazing. I really appreciate the many fans who have been looking out for me over the years and giving me words of encouragement when it came to injury progress."
