Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner has ruled on Marks & Spencer’s hugely controversial plan to demolish its flagship Oxford Street store, ending a three-year battle over the future of the art deco building.

On Thursday she gave the retail giant the all clear to demolish its 94 year old flagship store at Marble Arch ending one of the most bitterly contested and high profile planning rows of recent years.
